Shadow of Things to Come is a portrait of my son, Alan, when he began school. I loosely based this on a photograph. This is my most expressive portrait. The colors and pastel marks were a frenzy of feeling for my child and his first days at school. I am especially pleased with the color contrast and deep shadow effect.
