Evening Blue Ridge Light is the final layer of a colorful view of Rock Castle Gorge which is near Rocky Knob on the Blue RIdge Parkway where my husband does much of his research on birds and butterflies. I have done a number of paintings of different sights from the overlook at Rocky Knob including A Break in the Clouds which is my most popular mountain painting.
I did not include the first stage but I do have the second stage. There is nothing like the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!
My husband, Clyde Kessler, is from Ferrum, VA and has been studying this region since he was a boy. His maternal grandmother got him interested in wildlife and he has spent much of his time trying to get others involved in the preservation of this wonderful region. He works closely with the Blue RIdge Discovery Group which has the aim of getting children outdoors to study and appreciate our surroundings.
