Tiger Lean is an intense wildlife painting with strong color contrast and expressive brushwork. The tiger seems to be leaning into the space to get a better look at us rather than the other way around. The animal is in charge.
I am especially pleased with the textures in this painting. The surface is painterly and sensuous.
I have always been fascinated by cats, small and large. They seem to have a better understanding of what is going on around them. You see it in their eyes. This could just be my personal reaction to their intense beauty. Their movements have a special kind of rhythm in every step.
