Description
Blue Ridge Wildflowers is a peaceful, colorful view of a blue ridge overlook. I never tire of the intense beauty in this wonderful mountain region. I am especially pleased with the expression that I put into this work. It is based on this beautiful region, but, as Edward Hopper once said, I am best when I improvise.
That may sound like a strange way to approach a landscape but oftentimes an artist's personal reaction to colors and textures takes over during the painting process and the result is a creative scene that is unique to the painter.
Vincent Van Gogh also talked about how his feelings took over when he painted and his wonderful, expressive landscapes were the result of this intense experience. The clouds in this painting have a type of visual rhythm that is echoed in the field of wildflowers.

My paintings have been seen throughout the United States in national, international, and group shows. I have won numerous awards, including awards from Dorothy Gillespie, May Stevens, Frank Webb, and Daniel Greene. My paintings were in two group shows on Broadway and my biography is included in The Original Marquis Who's Who in America.
I taught in the Art Department of Radford University for twenty years as Assistant professor. I taught Art Appreciation, Drawing, Oil Painting, Watercolor painting, Foundations, and served as Gallery Director for one year.
I enjoyed working with Art and Design students. My Art Appreciation course was hands-on and I received many compliments on my course curriculum. Oftentimes I had students that were not enrolled in the class ask me if they could sit in for a class. I have fond memories of those guest students! What a great compliment for me!
My best-selling print, "Reaching Out", was selected from over three million works of art on Fine Art America to be on the set of The Mindy Project and I appeared with my artwork on The Hour of Joy on FoxTV out of Roanoke on March 10th 2013.
I live to paint and it is important to me to find homes for all of my creations. I have originals and prints in thirty-two states,Washington D.C., Canada, Germany, Russia, England, India, Switzerland, and Australia.
I also have paintings in the collection of Hollywood actress Morgan Fairchild.

💫Stunning artwork which captures the intense beauty of a “Portal to Heaven”! Interestingly, I once performed an afternoon show in Blowing Rock and was invited to a party afterward. I took a turn off of 321 onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and was so overwhelmed by the view that I pulled over and was totally mesmerized - arrived an hour after the celebration was supposed to begin, but the host said I actually wasn’t late because he had intentionally advertised the early time in order to allow guests an opportunity to”break the spell” of the awesome mountain scenery. Your work captures the “magic” of that area - it has, as they say in Spain (spent part of my childhood in the surreal Land of Dali!) , “duende “....
